Doing the Right Thing

If you’ve read our About Us page you’ll know we spent time thinking about, and writing up, our Core Values. Along with our Manifesto, these are important artefacts that guide how we run our business and make decisions. We share them openly as we seek to work with likeminded companies who also want to make a positive impact.

We also talk a lot about “doing the right thing”.

It’s a great phrase that most people will understand without having to Google a definition. It’s an important part of our culture and who we are as people. It’s the umbrella all of our values fall under and it underpins our Mission

“to empower local entrepreneurs to achieve their goals, create growth and positively impact our community”.

We strive to always do the right thing for our customers, employees and the communities. Sometimes that means balancing the different needs of those groups. Along with our values, we have three principles to help us ‘do the right thing’ and want to share those with you here.

For us, ‘doing the right thing’ means being a values-based, impactful and a sustainable business.

Being a ‘values-based’ business

We believe that many people are disillusioned with ‘big business’ and have the desire to start and grow their own business and make a positive impact on the world, but they are daunted by the task.

We have been there before. In fact, we’ve been there several times, and each time we have successfully led or supported the growth of a values-based company.

Being an impactful business

We believe that business can and should be a force for good. We believe that organisations (whatever the size) need to be a part of the solution to the wider problems faced by our local, national and global communities.

With this in mind, we’ll become a B Corporation certified business within the next three years. The longer-term objective is to support other organisations in reaching this important milestone.

Being a sustainable business

Obtaining B Corporation status means we will attain best in class metrics for diversity, environment and customer profiles. All of which are very important.

Additionally, we will also ensure that our company has financial and operational processes and metrics in place such that we will be there for our employees and customers for the long term. Building a robust, agile business is mission critical.

Let us know what you think - as always, we’d love to hear from you.

We’ll be writing more on our progress in each of these areas in the future.
