The Importance of Giving Back

It’s important to us that we “give back”

One of our core values is “Giving Back”.

“We believe that profit is important but how you use it is more important. We seek to be a “force for great” meaning we wish to use our time, energy and outcomes (revenue, profit and growth) wisely – for the benefit of many. We encourage and align with other likeminded, entrepreneurial businesses.”

Along with our other values, this guides how we behave and run Great2, Great2Work and Great2Grow.

It also underpins in our Manifesto.

“We endeavour to “use business to make the change.” We know the challenges we face as a society are huge; it’s so easy to be paralysed by the enormity of it. But small changes can add up to big ones. With that in mind, we’re committing 10% of our profits to support both local and global initiatives that educate and empower future generations.”

So, it’s no surprise that our calendar is full a number of fundraising activities for our chosen charities.

Fundraising fun

We’ve been busy fundraising throughout the year with our monthly Trough Tuesday charity lunches as well as the Great2Work Tuck Shop. All proceeds go to our chosen charities below.

Additionally, in December, we took part in the Christmas Reverse Calendar with our clients and Great2Work members Peak Indicators and HappyWired to raise money for the Chesterfield Foodbank.

Charities we are supporting

Each year we pick two charities who would benefit 50/50 from any monies raised during the year. This would include Trough Tuesday donations but also any other money raising ideas we have along the way. As well as fundraising, we also look for opportunities to support and promote these charities - joining our Trough Tuesday lunches and other community events we host at Hayfield House.

We like to support charities locally that focus on education and/or social mobility.

This year we are supporting The Elm Foundation and The Turner Farm Project.

Here’s a bit about each of them.

The Elm Foundation

The Elm Foundation is a local charity based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire offering a range of services appropriate to help and support women, men and children who are affected by Domestic Abuse.

The Turner Farm Project

The Turner Farm Project is part of Valley CiDS, a charity that helps children, young people and families. The working farm in Swanwick offers struggling schoolkids the chance to learn new things in the great outdoors.

If you want to know more, please feel free to get in touch. Or to join one of fundraising events, check out the Great2Work Community Calendar.
